Trip Overview
This Sharm El Sheikh to Cairo day trip takes you from the beach to the pyramids and back in one day. It’s private: your own car, driver and Egyptologist, at a pace that suits you.
You’ll see the Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx in the morning, have lunch near the plateau, then spend the afternoon at the Grand Egyptian Museum with Tutankhamun’s treasures. You can read about the sites on Egypt’s official monuments site before you go.
The drive crosses Sinai and passes under the Suez Canal, about 6.5 to 7 hours each way. We pick you up around 1:00 am and you’re back around 11:00 pm, so it’s a long day. Most guests sleep in the car on the way there. We pick up from any hotel in Sharm El Sheikh, including Naama Bay, Nabq and Ras Um Sid.
Prefer to fly? This trip is also available by plane on request, for an extra fee. Flight times change by season, so send us your dates and we’ll quote you the full price with flights.

Itinerary
1:00 am - Hotel pickup
Your driver meets you in the lobby. A breakfast box is waiting in the car.
8:00 am - Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx
Your Egyptologist meets you at the plateau. You’ll see the three pyramids, the panorama point and the Sphinx. Entry inside the Great Pyramid is optional.
11:30 am - Lunch
Egyptian lunch at a local restaurant near the plateau.
12:45 pm - Grand Egyptian Museum
About 2.5 hours with your guide: the Grand Staircase, Ramses II and the Tutankhamun galleries.
3:30 pm - Drive back to Sharm El Sheikh
You’re back at your hotel around 11:00 pm.

How long is the drive from Sharm El Sheikh to Cairo?
About 500 km, or 6.5 to 7 hours each way, through the Ahmed Hamdi tunnel under the Suez Canal.
Can we fly instead of driving?
Yes, on request and at an extra fee. The flight takes about an hour, so you get a shorter day. Send us your dates and we’ll quote you the full price.
Do I need my passport?
Yes. There are checkpoints on the road across Sinai, so please bring your passport.
Can I add a night in Cairo?
Yes. Many guests stay one night and add Saqqara or Old Cairo on the second day. Ask us and we’ll send a price.
